The invention of air conditioning all began in 1902 as Willis Carrier stood in a foggy train platform in Pittsburgh. Carrier realized that he could dry air by passing it through water, which would then create fog. This meant that air could be manufactured with specific amounts of moisture in it, making it possible to control humidity.
