Which Mold Do You Have?

Cleaning your mold depends on what mold type is present. There are three different classifications of mold:

  • Allergenic: This mold type often spurs allergic reactions or asthma-like symptoms.
  • Toxigenic: These are the most dangerous mold types, and can be deadly.
  • Pathogenic: This mold type is harmful to people with acute illness or compromised immunity.

Cleaning the Mold:

If the mold present in your shower is not hazardous to clean by yourself, here are the steps to proceed! There are a few things that you will need to successfully clean the deeply-rooted mold.

Items you will need:

  • spray bottle
  • cleaner
  • rubber gloves
  • stiff-bristled scrubber brush
  • vinegar
  • lime soap
  • paper towels and cleaning cloths

To begin cleaning your shower, create your solution. We prefer a 1:1 ratio of water and white vinegar. spray down the whole shower with your cleaning solution. To ensure that the solution works to break down the mold, leave it to soak on your shower walls for 20-25 minutes. Scrub vigorously with your stiff-bristled scrubber brush.

After scrubbing through the grout and over the tile, rinse down the whole shower with clean water. If you have some hard-to-rinse stains, make sure to scrub with bleach! Delaware plumbing professionals recommend spraying down with another round of white vinegar water to get rid of those extra pesky stains.
