One of the things we love about Carrier ductless heating and cooling systems is what they can do for additions, bonus rooms, garages, basements, attics, and sunrooms. All of these spaces have the same thing in common: They are usually difficult to keep comfortable all year long.

When there’s an area in a home that needs extra comfort, many people try to get by with space heaters or window air conditioners.
At first, these solutions look fast and cheap- after all- you can buy them at your local home improvement store and set them up quickly. But, while they are relatively inexpensive on the “front end,” they are very inefficient and expensive to run.

Propane heaters, like the one our homeowners were using, can actually be a fire hazard as well. So, our homeowners were smart to consider other options for the long-term.
One of the great benefits of Carrier ductless systems is that you can get both heating and air conditioning from the same units. The systems are also called “mini-splits” because they are composed of two essential parts.
There is an outdoor, condenser unit which is a super-efficient heat pump. It can provide energy-efficient heating even when it’s -22F and 100% cooling even at 130F- that’s more extreme than any weather we see here in Delaware and the Tri-state area!
This condenser uses inverter technology and a variable speed system to make the small adjustments needed to keep your comfort level perfect- no more large swings in temperature and comfort anymore!
The outdoor unit is connected to and powers the wall-mounted indoor unit, sometimes called a Head or cassette, minimizing the need for any extra wires or connections.
This gives you a clean look with the unit up and out of the way- no chance of tripping over a cord or bumping into a hot heater. The indoor units are operated by a hand-held remote control, but you can also opt for a wall thermostat- even a wifi enabled thermostat if you want!
Each wall unit contains state of the art sensors that monitor the temperature and humidity in a room, and the unit evenly distributes the hot or cold air evenly throughout the whole space, eliminating those hot and cold spots you get with space heaters or window a/c units.
Best of all, by keeping the comfort level steady where you set it means additional energy savings as well since these units only use the minimum energy needed to keep you comfortable, just like high-end whole-home HVAC systems.
